One of the many things that attracted us to Cliff House Holiday Cottages was the Orangery, so much so, we’ve made it our logo. It is a rather fine 20 odd year old structure just full of potential that hadn’t been realised. On one side is the greenhouse bit that has gone unloved for many a year. We are fixing that by doing lots of planting this year and trading seedlings with our neighbours (in a non-contact social distancing kind of way 🙂 ). On the other side is a spacious Orangery that actually has a very productive peach tree in it. We have tidied this space up making it a perfect spot for a late evening gin and tonic or a glass of cool crisp white wine, all in the relative warmth of the glasshouse.
Outside we are still working on the path that leads up to the front of the Orangery. We have done our bit for the environment by restoring some of the garden furniture (instead of throwing it away) and taken the stones from the path, given them a clean and re-used them inside the Orangery. Additionally we have made a lovely seating area outside the Orangery. Perfect for evening meals and supervising the kids from afar as they enjoy our gardens.
If you are coming to North Yorkshire on holiday, why not base yourself at our lovely holiday cottages? We are on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, but also close to the seaside towns of Scarborough and Whitby? (It will also give you a chance to enjoy our gardens and lovely Orangery 😉 )
