Here’s our ever growing selection of Frequently Asked Questions about our self catering holiday cottages. If you don’t find the answer to your question here, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
You cancel anytime up to 60 days before arrival in full, save for a £50 admin fee. After 60 days, we will refund you if we can rebook the property for the same price (less an admin fee). If we rebook for a less than the original booking price, we will refund the difference (less an admin fee). If we cannot rebook at all, there will be no refund. We encourage everyone to take out comprehensive travel insurance to guard against all eventualities.
HOW MANY COTTAGES DO YOU HAVE?
We have 5 self catering holiday cottages. Our biggest can sleep 6, and our two smallest ones can sleep a couple or a solo traveller. For more details, visit this page.
DO YOU ALLOW DOGS?
We certainly do. All of our self catering holiday cottages are dog friendly. All we ask is that you keep your dog on a lead when its outside, your dogs are never left alone and kept out of the bedrooms when it is inside. We will have to charge a little bit extra for your furry friend’s stay to cover extra cleaning. For more information have a look at this page.
WHEN IS CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT?
Check-in is from 1600hrs, however if you wish to arrive earlier, there is no harm in asking, but we may have to say “no” if we are really busy. To make the most of your stay, we’d encourage you to arrive no later than 1800hrs. Do let us know if you are going to be later than this, as we do start to worry 🙂 .
Check-out is any time before 1000hrs, but if you are staying with us on a short break from Friday until Sunday you can book an optional extra of a late check out.. Please ensure you leave your keys with us.
DO YOU PROVIDE BED LINEN AND TOWELS?
Yes we do. Beds will freshly made with fresh cotton bed linen up for your arrival and towels will be left fresh on your bed. We recommend you bring additional towels for the pool and if you plan on visiting the beach.
WHAT ACTIVTIES ARE THERE NEAR BY?
Where do you want to begin? Being in the country and close to the sea, you can mix it up with a day on the beach, then a day on the North York Moors Railway, or perhaps mountain biking on one of the trails in Dalby Forest. Visit our “What’s On” page to find out more.
DO YOU HAVE PARKING?
Yes. Each property has one dedicated off road parking space (Orchard House has 2 spaces). If you are travelling with more than one car you can park on the street in the village just over the road. Occasionally we may have extra space on site as well depending on occupancy.
DO YOU HAVE CHARGING FOR ELECTRIC CARS?
As of 2022 we provide charging points for electric vehicles.
WHAT FACILITIES DO YOU HAVE ON SITE?
Each of our self catering rental cottages comes with all the essentials in the kitchen, as well as Freeview TV, DVD,CD players and radio. We have an indoor heated swimming pool measuring 9m x 4.5m, a games room with pool and table tennis as well a books and a toy lending library. Upstairs in the games room we also have a small honesty shop of essentials as well crafts made by people in the village. In the pool area we have a small laundry of a washing machine and a tumble drier. Outside, we have two acres of grounds, some set as formal gardens, some left to grow to meadow, play facilities and beyond the walled garden a pond and some woodland to explore. DO YOU HAVE BIKE STORAGE?
We have two bike storage cages that can store all your bikes, plus your bike rack. Simply book it as one of your free bookable extras when booking on line.
IS THERE A PUB NEARBY?
Our local pub, The Grapes, is just 3 minutes walk away. The Grapes is family and dog friendly and offers a range of hearty food and well kept beers. Slightly further afield (or a walk across the fields) is The Calley Arms in Allerston or The Coachman in Snainton. There are further excellent options within a couple of miles in all directions including The Star in Harome, about 30 mins away, which is a Michelin starred restaurant.
ARE THERE LAUNDRY FACILITIES?
Yes, in our pool and games room building we have a washing machine and a tumble drier. Both are accessible during normal pool opening hours.
CAN I GET A SUPERMARKET DELIVERY?
Yes, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons and Asda all deliver to Cliff House Holiday Cottages. Please don’t arrange the delivery until after you expect to arrive as we can’t guarantee that there will be someone on site to accept delivery on your behalf.
IS THERE OUTDOOR SEATING?
We have picnic benches throughout our 2 acres of gardens as well as a number of benches in the quieter parts of our grounds and we have good old tree stumps to sit on around our campfire.
