Farndale – the Daffodil Valley

Places to Visit, Things to Do, Walking

Farndale Dale is know as the Daffodil Valley because of its abundant displays of daffodils at the start of Spring in this area of North Yorkshire.  That said with everything else that appears to be growing along the path it could also be called the Wild Garlic Valley or Bluebell Valley as the season progresses. The walk would make an ideal photo walk for those of you with cameras.

Starting in the hamlet of Low Mill, where there is ample car parking, there is a straight out and back walk along the River Dove to the hamlet of Church Houses, which is about a 3 mile round trip.  At Church Houses there is a pub, for those you that need liquid refreshment on your walk 🙂 Make sure you get up to the Church in Church Houses, where you will see some of the densest displays of daffodils in the graveyard there. There are a number of different walks that you can take, which will make it a circular walk, that take you away form the daffodils and up on to the side of the valley.  Check the maps that we provide your cottage.

From our holiday cottages at Cliff House, Farndale is a 40 minute drive or so, which takes you through the picturesque village of Hutton-le-Hole.  You can also come back a different route, via the Cawthorn Roman Camp, if you want to make more a day trip of it.
