Scarborough’s historical charm is undeniable, with its stunning coastline and the iconic Grand Hotel, which was designed with 365 bedrooms, four towers, and 12 floors to symbolise the days, months, and seasons of the year.  It is also in a very patriotic V for Victoria, the monarch at the time. The Old Parcels Office in Scarborough

Another gem of Scarborough’s railway past is the Old Parcels Office, which once served the busy railway station, facilitating the movement of goods across the region. Today, it stands as an arts space, showcasing local talent and celebrating the town’s creative spirit. It’s a lovely example of how old infrastructure can be repurposed for new cultural uses, adding to the vibrant community that thrives in Scarborough today.

The Cinder Track – the route of the old Scarborough to Whitby Railway line

One of the most scenic routes featured in this episode is the Cinder Track path, a cycle and walking route that traces the old railway line from Scarborough to Whitby. This 21-mile track offers breathtaking views along the coast and through the countryside, passing landmarks like the Scalby Viaduct, a relic of the railway’s engineering heritage. It’s a popular path for cyclists and hikers alike, offering a leisurely way to experience the landscapes that once echoed with the sounds of trains.
