Robin Hood’s Bay

Places to Visit, Things to Do

Robin Hood’s Bay is a fantastic little place to visit at any time of year. Full of old world charm, the old village has a long history of smuggling. If you are brave enough you can venture up the tunnel from the beach that the local stream runs through.  Look up and see the covered entrances to the cellars of the houses above!

You can have a good walk by heading out along the beach to Boggle Hole. At Boggle Hole you can grab a coffee at the Youth Hostel there before heading back to Robin Hood’s Bay. Depending on the tides you can take the cliff path or walk along the beach and explore the rock pools.

Beyond Boggle Hole you can see the head land that is Ravenscar. Now a place where seals breed, but in times gone by was a place of industry as the whole area was used in the production of alumn.  Alumn was used in tanning and other industries.

If you fancy something to eat, the dog friendly Brambles Bistro in the dock area near the slipway to the beach, is well recommended for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
