Loverly 4 night stay in the Granary Very cosy but spacious for a family of 4. Well equipped cottage. Pool was a loverly bonus that we used every day. Good location to explore inland and an easy 30 minute drive to the coast. Highly Recommend+0Posted on Google
Karen Evans23 October 2026WOW, What can we say about Cliff house holiday cottages? We had the most wonderful family holiday weekend this October with ten of us in 3 cottages . Our Eldest daughter had been twice before and said what a wonderful place to stay and she was so right . We were immediately made welcome by Jacqueline and given a tour of the swimming pool and games room which were beautifully kept and very welcoming . Our cottage “The Pear loft “ was lovely and perfect for two and our two dogs and with a fenced garden which was brilliant. There waiting in the kitchen was a delicious homemade cake , jam and bread and tea and coffee which we really weren’t expecting and was an added delight making us feel very much at home . Jacqueline then showed us the extensive gardens with a yew tree hideaway and play area for the children, chickens running free and a glorious apple tree we could help ourselves to apples . We were also shown the forest area with the fire pit and we were just thrilled by the wonderful outdoor space. When our daughters , their husbands and our 4 grand children arrived they were so happy with their cottages (The Granary and the Coach House) and then the absolute joy of all ten of us in the swimming pool . So much fun to be had. The following morning we played in the games room , fed the chickens with Jacqueline and were allowed to take the chicken eggs for breakfast and cuddle the chickens. The children were so excited . They explored the woods with us with plenty of climbing and adventures to be had. Their excitement was tangible. It was an amazingly hot weekend for October and only 35 minutes away by car we were in Sandsend with swimming in the sea, games and sandcastles on the beach and a delicious picnic before coming back to Cliff house cottages for more swimming pool joy and so much fun before a wonderful meal out only 5 minutes away at the Coachman Inn. Sunday morning brought us all around the fire pit where our daughter ( a forest school teacher) taught us all including the children to use a flint and steel to make fire . It was brilliant and very exciting after finding branches to put our marshmallows on we all sat round toasting them and eating them . Then we extinguished the fire safely which was a very good lesson after all the fires over the summer because of the high temperatures . Only 15 minutes from the lovely cottages is Dalby Forest and another highlight for nature lovers with outdoor activities and cycle trails. It was beautiful and so many adventures to be had and for the less mobile ( myself ) a tramper scooter loan which was absolutely brilliant . Well Thank you Jacqueline and Alastair for such an enjoyable and happy family holiday with beautiful accommodation in such a wonderful nature lovers paradise complete with your extra touches. Katie30 September 2026We were staying for a few days as we had a wedding nearby and this accommodation was ideal. A well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a real home from home. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location, thank you! ☺Excellent property in a beautiful location! We loved the pool and the gardens in particular. The cottage was lovely and clean with fresh bread and marmalade on arrival. Jacqueline was very friendly and made us feel so welcome so thank you! :) ☹The only one downside was the water pressure in the cottage. We already knew about this from other reviews but it was really bad which was a shame. Apart from that no complaints at all, we had a great stay!Posted on Google

We have a little dog & there was an enclosed area outside the front door which was very useful. Pool & games room were a fabulous addition & there is a pub within a short stroll. Suzie H11 August 2026We had four fabulous days in Apple Cottage. It was wonderful, the cottage is perfect for 2 and the grounds are amazing. There is a pond in the woodland area that was brilliant for watching bats in the evening. Jacqueline was lovely and had left us bread, milk, jam and homemade cookies (very yummy homemade cookies). Everything was very welcoming and relaxed and well thought out. There's a swimming pool and games room, so between that and what is in the cottages, you have everything you need for a really lovely break. I would highly recommend Cliff House cottages as a base for anything in that area of North Yorkshire, you are close to York, Malton, multiple seaside towns and several good wildlife locations, including RSPB Bempton Cliffs. Definitely hoping to go back again. Really, really enjoyed my visit. Edited to add : I went back a year later. Just as good as the first time.+0Posted on Airbnb
Muriel7 August 2026We had a great time at Apple Cottage, convenient for Dalby Forest and the moors, North Yorkshire Moors steam railway. The pool was a bonus after a day's walk. It was a delight to walk round the beautiful gardens in the company of Pickle the cat and her mum and the very friendly chickens.Lemon drizzle cake, bread and marmalade were greatly appreciated; Jacqueline was very helpful, friendly and responsive.Posted on Airbnb
Katherine19 July 2026Apple Cottage is small but perfect for our weekend retreat. It was easy to find and has a dedicated parking slot. From the front door there are a few stairs down to the kitchen and bedroom and a few stairs up to the living room and bathroom. Jacqueline showed us around the lovely grounds, all of which are available to guests, and was friendly but never intrusive. The swimming pool is a bonus and the timed slots means you always have it to yourself. Ideally placed for exploring the local area, including Dalby Forest. Kim14 July 2026Just wow, beautiful location such pretty gardens, really quaint corner of North Yorkshire. Jacqueline was a super helpful host, lovely surprise of treats on arrival - yummy!! Cottage so clean, cute and comfortable. Swimming pool access such a bonus. Location amazing for accessing all North Yorkshire has to offer: coast, countryside & pretty villages. Local pub had friendly staff, enjoyed lovely pub grub tea. Can’t fault anything, our stay was perfect, would highly recommend and will return. We stayed in Apple Cottage which had a pretty secure small garden to enjoy reading and a morning coffee with the dog happily mooching in the dappled sunlight listening to the little brook bubbling past. Cottage is well equipped, perfect for our needs. Just lovely stay wish we’d stayed longer.Posted on Google
Claire Hewitt8 July 2026Jacqueline and Alastair are great hosts and very approachable and present if you need them. We were in Pear Loft and needed to be careful of the low ceilings in places as we are tall people. The facilities are great and the kitchen well equipped and the gardens peaceful. The welcome groceries were a lovely touch . The information booklet is very thorough and helpful on the area and places to visit aswell as Cliff House Holiday Cottages too . The road running along the front was really noticeable to us only on the first night and we slept well. We found the situation perfect for exploring North Yorkshire. Daniel22 June 2026Overall we couldn’t believe how great this place was. Situated in a lovely place which was quiet but close enough to surrounding areas with lots of things to do. Cottage was perfect, very clean and tidy and had everything you would need. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained - great for kids or relaxing in the sun. Swimming pool was fantastic our son loved it. Games room was also a bonus with lots of toys and games. Will return in the future for sure!Posted on Airbnb
