Boxing Day in Scarborough

News and Events, Things to Do

Boxing Day is always a great day to visit the seaside town of Scarborough.  Scarborough is a 20 minute drive from our self catering cottages at Cliff House, so makes a great place to visit with only a short drive, whether thats for a walk along the prom, or to grab some fish and chips.

Boxing Day in Scarborough marked the return of the annual Fishermen versus Firemen Charity Football Match. A relatively good natured match, with some rules that you might not recognise in an ordinary kick around, specifically – all players must wear a hat, and if they lose their hat the opposition is awarded a free kick. After the football match there is the around the inner harbour raft race, with home made rafts of varying degrees of sea worthiness 😉 It was a fantastic day out and is a great opportunity to be out and blow the cobwebs away after Christmas Day. Book a holiday with us for Christmas 2024 and you could be here too, watching the match and eating chips and ice cream!
