Bird watching and photography at RSPB Bempton Cliffs

Places to Visit, Things to Do

A couple of weeks ago we got up early and headed to RSPB Bempton Cliffs  to join Steve from Yorkshire Coast Nature for a morning’s introduction to sea bird photography.  Conditions were more or less perfect, but we did start the day with a sighting of a weasel working its way through the grass along the cliff edge.  Its the start of the nesting season at RSPB Bempton Cliffs, so no birds were laying but we did see a gannet up close and personal as it collected material for its nest.

The start as always on days life this is of course the puffin.  There were a few around, but on this occasion not as close as we’d like, even with a long lens.

RSPB Bempton Cliffs is just 40 minutes away from Cliff House Holiday Cottages and has plenty of facilities and a cafe.  A day with Steve and the team from Yorkshire Coast Nature is time well spent, they have a year round itinerary of workshops offering something for everyone.
